Pigeon is a self portrait in the medium of pencil. As a Sophomore at Hillsboro High School, I enjoy playing sports like volleyball in the fall, basketball in the winter, and track in the spring. My favorite thing to do is probably going to the lake in the summer and hanging out with my friends and family. I have always loved dogs. I have had three dogs. My first dog passed away about a year ago though.I currently have two dogs. I got Phoenix cause I made a bet with my dad and I won so we got Phoenix.Then we got Rusty last February cause we are gone a lot so I feel that Phoenix needed a friend.My favorite sport is basketball. I've played basically my whole life. I have loved it my whole life and enjoy it so much.Some of my things I like to do in my free time when I don't have sports are napping,playing with my dogs,making food with my friends,and hanging out with my friends.I also love to go shopping with my friends on the weekends.I have lived on a farm in Hillsboro with my family my whole life.

Sprinkle Ice Cream

Sprinkle Ice cream is a still life in the medium of color pencil.Ice cream was discovered in the second century B.C. But there was no specific date or origin nor inventor. But according to popular legend ice cream was invented by the ancient Chinese then brought to Italy by Marco Polo.Then brought to France by Catherine de Medici and then brought to America by Thomas Jefferson.Both Dairy Queen and Carvel claimed to have developed the first soft serve ice cream in the mid 1930s.The first ice cream flavor was nectar and honey except it was snow laced with the flavor.There are now over 1000 ice cream flavors today and many more being invented. One of my favorite places is Cherry Berry a frozen yogurt place that has so many toppings to choose from.Ice cream is a dessert that people have to celebrate all over the world.

Silly Seahorse is an artistic style painting in the medium of acrylic.I wanted to paint a seahorse because it means good luck. Most seahorses live in the west Atlantic and Indo-Pacific region. I have always loved the ocean since I was little. I also just love swimming Not just in the ocean but anywhere. Seahorses have always been pretty and very fascinating. Their upright posture is in response to an increase in shallow water habits, especially in seagrass that occurred during the oligocene 33.9 to 23 million years ago.

My Dream is about Fire and Ice people on two different sides of the river fighting.They were fighting over the different sides and who got what.They would run across the bridge over the river and fight one by one.Whoever lost would get thrown off the bridge.At the end whenever everyone has fought there was more water people than fire people. So that means the water had won so they get the land they were fighting over, but the fire people were very mad and it didn't end there they will always be rivals.

This work is called Cowboy Boot, and the medium is acrylic paint. I chose to paint this cowboy boot because I have lived on a farm my whole life and really love it. The flower represents how I have grown to be the person I am today. I have learned so many life lessons on the farm, and this really represents all of that. Why I chose to do pink Is to represent compassion and love, which both mean a lot to me in life. The blue and white background represents wisdom and inspiration. This means I chose to live my life to the fullest.

Flying Frog is an artistic style painting in the medium of colorpencil.My theme for the year is fantasy,the first thing I picked was a frog with wings.The drop I chose to draw was a red eyed tree frog.These certain types of frogs are found in the lowlands and the slopes of central america and as far north as mexico.As with other amphibians, red-eyed tree frogs start life as tadpoles in temporaryor permanent ponds.Red-eyed tree frogs are a charismatic rainforest species and are frequently associated with rainforest conservation programs. Eggs can differentiate between benign vibrations such as rainfall and the vibrations of an approaching predator, such as a snake, and will hatch early when threatened.I didn't have any specific reason to pick a frog to draw but I do really like frogs so I guess that's why.

I think that mermaids are always colorful and bright but also coordinated with the best colors. So the best way I could do that is to make it rainbow. Mermaids are captivating mythological beings, half-woman and half-fish, often linked to the sea. They are known for their enchanting songs that can lure sailors to danger or lead them to safety. With a blend of beauty and peril, mermaids symbolize humanity's complex relationship with the mysteries of the ocean. I really love mermaids and find them fascinating, so I'm glad I got to do it.

In some traditions, dragons are fierce, destructive beasts, while in others, they are wise and benevolent guardians of ancient knowledge or treasures. Whether as symbols of strength, mystery, or danger, dragons continue to play a central role in stories, films, and art, embodying both awe and fear.I really love the way dragons look and all the different colors, so I'm glad I got to bring my dragon alive by doing this.

They are commonly associated with purity, grace, and magic in various cultures and have appeared in folklore, art, and literature for centuries. While their existence remains confined to legend, unicorns continue to captivate the imagination, symbolizing beauty, strength, and the enchanting possibilities of the unknown.

Gert is a small, likable animal that has wiry fur but is also fluffy. He is a bunch of shades of grey with a little bit of white. He has bright green eyes and green toenails. His long tail has a little swirl at the end to hang from things to survive and to pounce on his prey. He lives in his little hole in the ground and sleeps all day and comes out at night. He's so tiny that you could hold him. He also looks scary but loves humans and loves to cuddle. He's a great pet to have.

​Wild Hydrangeas is an artistic style painting in the Acrylic medium. One of my favorite flowers is hydrangeas so I knew I wanted to do a project with them. Hydrangea are loved for their large, full blooms and beautiful variety of colors, with each shade carrying its own meaning. Blue hydrangeas are often seen as peaceful and calming, pink hydrangeas represent love and happiness, white hydrangeas symbolize purity and elegance, and purple hydrangeas are connected to pride, grace, admiration, and royalty. Their colorful petals can brighten any garden or bouquet, making hydrangeas a timeless favorite. With so many shades and meanings, hydrangeas are flowers that can match almost any mood or occasion.

My Illumination project is an artistic painting in acrylic. For my illumination project, the scene of the princess standing in front of the fireflies shaped into a heart represents hope, love, and achieving what may seem impossible. I painted this for my illumination project because the glowing fireflies symbolize light guiding someone toward their dreams, even when they feel far away or out of reach. The star represents what the firefly longs for, and the firefly's heart shows how determination and hope can lead to success in the end. This piece reflects the idea that no matter how impossible something may seem, dreams can still become reality if you continue to believe and never give up.

The Up house is memorable to high school seniors because it represents adventure, change, and the pursuit of dreams. Just like the house floating into the sky, seniors are getting ready to leave home and start a new chapter in life. It also reminds people to hold on to memories while still being excited about what comes next.

​My Bust is in the artistic style in the medium of 3D printing and acrylic paint. Throughout my high school years, art has become an important way for me to share my ideas, emotions, and creativity. I enjoy experimenting with different colors, techniques, and ideas to create artwork that feels personal and meaningful to me. Outside of art, I stay involved in volleyball, basketball, and track, which have taught me leadership, dedication, and teamwork. My parents are Greg and Kari Cotton, and I have two siblings, Alex and Aubrey. I have lived in Hillsboro my whole life on a farm just a couple of miles out of town. I am a very family-oriented person, and my family has always been one of the biggest influences in my life. They have supported me through my academics, sports, art, and personal goals, while always encouraging me to work hard and become the best version of myself. Their love and support have helped shape who I am today and continue to motivate me in everything I do. I am involved in volleyball, basketball, track, student council, and art club, which has helped me grow as both a leader and a team player. I enjoy being creative through art and pushing myself academically through college classes and honor roll achievements. My future goal is to attend the University of North Dakota and become a physical therapist so I can help others and build a successful future for myself.
